Atoke's letter to Banky W

Hello peeps,
I've been under the radar lately (out of the radar to be perfectly honest), and I'm very sorry about that. I really am. I know I promised to write more often, but I haven't kept to my promise (mainly due to laziness).

Ok! Enough of the deviation. I was browsing through some blogs today, and I stumbled upon a piece that made laugh real hard. I mean I haven't laughed this much in a while. It's a piece written by Atoke of Bella Naija, and it's titled: " Banky W, Would you be my lover, yes/no"? I must say, I really enjoyed the article after getting over the initial shock of someone tripping for my only crush in the Nigerian music industry......*covers face, now i've finally spilled the beans*
I'm a full time Banky W fan, I mean he can do no wrong in my opinion(laughs). I so much rep his music, well........... apart from Ebutte Metta, I practically know and love all his songs, well I think I did until I read Atoke's article. Ok let's go back to the article.

This article is in the format of a letter starting with Dear Banky W. In this write-up/letter, Atoke lists 10 convincing reasons(at least she thinks it's convincing) why Banky W should say yes to her. I'll list the reasons I like below:

Failure doesn't define an individual

I was listening to one of my favourite songs of all times on the radio  this morning "Try Again by Aaliyah (Guess you didn't know that abi?), and this got me thinking about a topic most people despair and despise........ Failure.

Failure according to Merriam Webster dictionary is defined as  "An omission of occurrence or performance" , "A state of inability to perform a normal function", "A lack of success" and finally "Falling short".

These definitions are summarised versions of what people actually think about failure.

A New Dawn!!!!!!!

Hello Everyone,
I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so sorry I haven't been regular with my posts, I've been MIA. I promise to turn a new leaf henceforth. I've had to sit back these past few weeks to reflect on what I really want my blog to be known for(what I really want to be known for)

As much as a part of me wants my blog to be popular for posting gists only, another part of me wants to be known as a motivational blogger ( a pro, if you know what i mean). I want to educate people, motivate Nigeria, and impact lives through my blog.

Based on these thoughts, I have made the following decisions:

An Olympic Lesson in Motivation

The saying goes: The expert in anything was once a beginner in everything. Truer words were never spoken.

But this isn't what we see. This isn't what we feel when we watch these Olympians. It isn't what we think when we watch any expert or great success.

We see the finished product, shining brightly in designer packaging. We see triumph and achievement, not training. We see the riches, not the rags.

And this, as much as anything else, is why motivation - that inner drive that carries us toward all we desire - continues to escape us.

Today that comes to an end. Today I will open your eyes to a new way of viewing the changes you wish to carry out and the challenges that are attempting to stop you.

The Olympians we admire might possess unique physical talent and natural gifts, but that inner fire that compels them forward is within us all. It's time to set it free.

Be Positively Responsible

Even when you’re in a negative place, the next step you take can be in a positive direction. Even when you’re feeling down, with your thoughts and actions you can lift yourself up.

Disappointment and frustration are facts of life that you’ll often encounter. But that doesn’t mean you have to perpetuate them.

When you stumble and fall, it hurts. Yet no matter how much the setback has hurt you, your best choice is always to quickly get back up and get going again.

Instead of fighting back with more of your own negativity, advance forward with your own meaningful, positive intentions.

 

 

When life has been tough and painful, grab the opportunity to make it richer and more fulfilling.

Feeling resentful and sorry for yourself will just end up giving you even more reasons to feel sorry and resentful. Choose instead to feel positively and enthusiastically responsible for pushing yourself beyond the difficulties.

Every moment is an opportunity for growth and advancement, no matter what has happened in the moments before. Seize each opportunity, and quickly leave life’s disappointments behind.

Our thoughts shape Our Actions

This is the day your dream comes to life. Because this is the day when you can take a positive, intentional step toward it. Today, you have the power to think and act and live as you choose. Choose to focus your thoughts on the positive possibilities and to live with real meaning and fulfillment. It is only a convenient illusion that life seems to happen to you. In fact, the life that matters is the life that happens from you and through you. Live this day from the perspective of authentic purpose, and nothing can keep you down. Use the grand opportunity of this moment to more fully be the beautiful, unique person you truly are. You are alive and aware and filled with a vision of how life can be when it is at its best. Feel the rightness of your purpose and live it with everything you have. Today, life’s abundance and limitless possibilities stretch out in every direction. Today, you can make it all into something magnificent and uniquely you.

REASON IS NOT EVERYTHING

Make good and effective use of reason, but don't let it be the only thing that informs you. Some of the most beautiful and valuable aspects of life have little basis in reason.
Love does not adhere to reason, and yet it is real.People regularly act on faith, wholly apart from reason, and create value in doing so. You know much more than you can prove. Let your amazing ability to reason move you forward, but don't let it put limits on how far you can go.
Pay attention to the reasons,and pay attention also to how you feel. You are more than a set of logically determined options. Even when every reason argues against it, HOPE is never lost. For the power of hope, power of authentic desires and power of dreams cannot be limited by reason.
There is a reason for everything and yet reason is not everything. Go joyfully forward, now and always, whether there is a reason to or not.
